I did these illustrations of Ella, Belinda and Tiki as part of the Poster Puzzles game on the Ella site. You can play the game by going to the Fun Stuff section here.
In 1968 I had my first experience drawing for an audience other than my parents. My first grade teacher, Miss Sickler, asked if I'd like to draw some of the dinosaurs she'd seen me decorate my papers with on the chalkboard for the entire class. As I drew I explained the difference between the Allosaurus and a Tyrannosaurus, and pointed out that Diplodocus was much longer than the Brontosaurus. I became a minor celebrity at Valley School that day, and my fate as an illustrator was sealed.
I am currently Senior Art Director for Seattle-based Smashing Ideas, Inc., where I've worked since 2000.
My wife Carmela and I are the creators of the Ella The Elephant picture book series for Arthur A. Levine Books. A television series based on the books is currently in development.
In addition to my children's book work, I've produced illustrations and designs that have appeared on websites for PBS Kids, Nick Jr. and the Disney Channel.
I've recently finished work for several interactive displays at the Harley-Davidson museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
